Stamps featuring motifs of Czech national symbols
In 2017, Česká pošta approached our studio with a competition for the graphic design of stamps featuring motifs of Czech national symbols.
We didn't want to use the commonly known vector drawing of the state symbols. The designs were created using photographs of prominent details from each symbol, which were placed in the right part of the stamp. On the left, the denomination and the familiar vector representation of the state symbol in a reduced form are placed. Thus, the stamp is effectively divided into two halves, resembling two stamps side by side on an envelope. The photographs were created according to our designs by Robert Tichý. Česká pošta issued the stamps in 2017 as a booklet with 8 self-adhesive stamps.
For Česká pošta, we also proposed a representative package for the stamp issue. We designed a folding booklet with descriptions of individual symbols and an inserted booklet of stamps. Following this issue, Česká pošta released a sheetlet with 4 stamps featuring motifs of state honors, which have a similar graphic design. The same folding booklet is also included with the sheetlet
