Analysis of Artistic Materials

The publication provides an overview of essential instrumental analytical methods employed in the study of artworks. Each chapter elucidates the principles and procedures, focusing notably on non-invasive techniques like Raman infrared spectroscopy in reflection mode, which have been practically implemented in the NGP laboratory through a dedicated project. The book explores the principles, procedures, and limitations of various analytical methods based on material investigations of paintings from the first half of the 20th century. Collaboration between experts from NGP and the Criminalistics Institute of the Czech Republic contributed to the creation of this publication.
